David – business has an agenda. Independent Consultants are also supposed to exist. The facts in this interview are my experiences borne out from working in business solutions from ledger card accounting times to floppy disks to the launch of PCs to Unix to client server to web based to true Saas to “hybrid” etc etc perhaps full circle….?

I go back to the article and from where I stand, today people are swayed by technology as opposed to “getting their invoices out” and if the application didn’t provide this capability would the “cloud” be the right way forward? We are agnostic on platform as it shouldn’t be material, a consideration of course but not material. We do represent SAP, Sage and now MYOB who, with Advanced, have a great true SAAS solution for the large business. SAP Business One is an on-premise solution that, as with any application, can be hosted. However it’s not vendor managed but if is ultimately better for your requirements through review surely that’s the sensible decision along with compromise on the delivery methodology. There is no money to follow here – purely experience.

One needs to be careful from where you get advice. When you hear advice like this – follow the money. While I agree that cloud is not naturally the best option, some software partners who don’t have a cloud solution need to develop a story to combat that competition. The true advice comes from someone independent. Someone who’s income does not depend on the decision.
