Pharmapac, a family-run manufacturer of premium plastic packaging with a five-decade history, has partnered with Epicor since 2017 and deployed Epicor Kinetic in 2021 to run manufacturing, financial and warehouse operations. An unexpected IT management incident on its on-premise servers convinced the company that staying on-premise carried its own security risks, prompting a roughly year-long, carefully tested migration to cloud-hosted Kinetic.
To ease the transition, Pharmapac ran Kinetic’s browser-based interface on its on-premise system first, so staff were already used to the screens before the cloud cutover. Epicor Kinetic now runs the business end-to-end, from initial quote through to shipment, with Epicor Mobile Warehouse guiding staff to the exact products and locations needed to fulfil an order and printing labels and packing slips directly from handheld scanners.
Moving to the cloud has removed the cost and time of managing platform upgrades and server maintenance in-house, and given staff anywhere access to the system from mobile devices. Kinetic’s data has also become a source for the company’s sustainability reporting, including Scope 3 carbon footprint calculations.
