Express freight services provider implements a robust mobile worker solution aimed at enhancing customer experience…

Australian Air Express (AaE), a provider of express freight services throughout Australia with over 1,800 drivers in the field, has implemented Blackbay’s mobile worker solution Delivery Connect running on Motorola MC70 rugged handheld computers.

AaE, which is owned by Qantas and Australia Post, says the goal of its technology deployment was to improve customer service by delivering a real-time mobility solution for the company’s express freight services.

“Our commitment to quality of service and continued growth is vital to our vision of becoming the premier provider of express freight services in Australia,” says Munro Farmer, AaE’s CIO.

“This commitment has driven our investment in a reliable, scalable and robust real-time tracking solution from Blackbay and Motorola, that will enable us to meet the needs of our customers in an increasingly competitive market,” explained Munro Farmer, CIO, AaE.

Following an extensive request for proposal (RFP) process, AaE selected Blackbay and Delivery Connect to provide real-time tracking of deliveries and pick-ups in the field.

The solution has been rolled out to 1,800 AaE drivers who are currently using the devices to manage and track all deliveries and pick-ups. The solution now provides AaE with electronic proof of delivery, electronic manifests and event and time stamping throughout the delivery and pick-up process, providing increased accuracy of information and real-time online visibility for its customers, reducing the need for customer queries.

“We are confident that Delivery Connect will enable us to further enhance our service delivery and meet the changing demands of the market whilst ensuring that we remain competitive,” Farmer says.
