The City of Onkaparinga, South Australia’s largest metropolitan council, serves more than 160,000 residents across 518 square kilometres on the fringe of Adelaide. Its JD Edwards ERP – in use for more than 15 years and running critical finance, accounts payable, asset and fleet management, procurement, payroll and HR functions for 30 users – needed a major update to support additional payroll functionality, but a routine patch would have required extensive testing across every business-critical role.
The council engaged long-time partner Fusion5 (one of only two Oracle partners in Australia qualified to deliver Oracle’s 100-Day Upgrade programme) to move to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 9.1.2 using that structured methodology, taking a staged approach to minimise disruption to strategic change already under way at the council.
Fusion5 completed the upgrade in 88 working days, ahead of the 100-day target, delivering the new payroll functionality the council needed without the extended downtime a less structured upgrade path would have required.
