Live@edu roll-out aims to enhance collaborative learning platform for students and increase their technical capabilities…
Curtin University is taking its student email system to the cloud with the adoption of Microsoft’s Live@edu email solution.
Roll-out will commence this month to more than 192,000 Curtin University students and alumni across 11 national and international campuses following the University’s decision to deploy Live@edu.
In late 2007, the university began looking at alternative email offerings as part of its strategic IT plan. Curtin University sees its roll-out of Live@edu as helping it move one step closer to its vision of being amongst the top 20 universities in Asia by 2020.
“We evaluated a variety of hosted email applications and found that Microsoft’s Live@edu solution is a superior offering that has evolved rapidly in the past 12 months. It has the ability to grow with us as we increase the students’ technical capabilities,” says Peter Nikoletatos, the university’s chief information officer.
“The suite of products included with Live@edu and the integration capabilities such as the calendar and other virtual tools offer our students a great collaborative learning platform that will skill them up with the tools for life beyond university,” says Nikoletatos.
Students will be given access to the Live@edu suite of online applications and services, which include Microsoft Outlook Live, Microsoft Office Live Workspace and SkyDrive storage.
