New app aims to accelerate healthcare through improved collaboration…

Australian health tech start-up Health Care Innovate has launched Clinivid, a secure platform for doctors and other clinicians to share patient information from their mobile phones, tablets or desktop.

Clinivid uses an in-house developed video solution that allows doctors to share patient information with colleagues from their mobile phones without compromising patient confidentiality and data security. The app logs and timestamps all conversations and embeds patient data, which makes it possible to link it back into local medical records systems, so that everyone in the treatment team has access to the information.

Dr Suresh de Silva, director of radiology at Sutherland Hospital is using the platform and said he found it to be “very useful to share key imaging results. I send video summary to the treating clinician when I report a complex case, so they get the relevant results as a video without any delays and I have the peace of mind that all data is stored securely, even if I lose my phone.”

Although Clinivid didn’t want to specifically discuss the security measures it has used in the application and service, Health Care Innovate’s founder and CEO Dr Katja Beitat said, “We are using several elements to keep communication confidential and secure, including Touch ID and PIN access within the iOS app. Transmissions are secured using industry best practice. For data storage, we partner with AWS storing data temporarily within its Australian data centres. AWS provides industry best standards in data security.”

The application and service, said Beitat, was designed with a clinician first, mobile first principle. Currently, it only supports iOS but there are plans to release an Android version.

Clinivid will be launched to the radiology and specialist market initially, before expanding into other health areas.
