Cloud ERP vendor betting big on wearable tech…

Obsessive executives can keep an even closer eye on business with new apps for the Apple Watch introduced by Infor which include one for its Ming.le social business platform and another for its business intelligence solution. By providing wearable access to Ming.le, the vendor said users can directly interact, accept requests and provide approvals, allowing enterprise business processes to keep moving without the use of a computer or tablet.

The BI app, it said, provides mobile users with the ability to process actionable insights in real-time, allowing for easier and more accurate decision-making.

“Infor strives to change the way business is conducted, and to make software more accessible, intelligent, and purposeful in everyday situations. By integrating our software into new and disruptive devices such as the Apple Watch, we are helping to empower the workforce by providing them with tools to solve everyday problems,” said Duncan Angove, Infor president. “The market for wearable technologies is rapidly maturing and the actual value is far more ubiquitous, with potential to seamlessly merge business with technology.”

Ming.le is available to customers as an embedded function within ERP solutions, and draws information from multiple applications into a single workflow. Equipped with contextual analytics to manage business process improvements, Ming.le users can draw upon ERP information and access searchable assets such as documents, plans, photos and videos from a centralised location. By expanding access to Ming.le to the Apple Watch, field users are better equipped to manage essential business activities, said Infor.

Infor BI provides industry-specific analytics, reporting capabilities and personalised dashboards to improve decision-making. With BI available on the Apple Watch, Infor said users are better prepared to make use of big data and quickly process insights through personalised dashboards.

Wearable technology is a rapidly evolving trend for consumers, but with the accelerating release of business-focused apps, the value of such equipment is becoming clearer to the corporate market, said Infor.
