IBM is pushing its new software architecture as it tries to convince Australia’s State and Federal Governments to ‘go smart’…
This week IBM announced its ‘IBM Intelligent Operations Centre for Smarter Cities’, a technology solution design aimed at holistic city monitoring and management.
The software will enable cities to “leverage information, anticipate problems and coordinate resources”, goes the company pitch. “The smartest cities integrate across all key functions including infrastructure human and strategy services. Cities of all sizes all around the world are already realizing these benefits today.”
The software, which IBM says is based on insights gained from over 2,000 smarter city engagements, will be available either as an off-the-shelf offering, a shared deployment between departments, or hosted on IBM’s private cloud.
The package will feature collaboration, analytics and asset management tools to help city agencies coordinate disaster-response efforts and enhance the ongoing efficiency of city operations.
The software will include a series of dashboards that give decision makers a real-time, single view of operations, allowing them to visualise and allocate resources as needed and as they become available. The software will allow cities to share information instantly across agency lines to accelerate crises response and improve project coordination, to fine-tune resource usage and plan for the future.
