Intermodal and Boffa Miskell opt for same ERP system

ERP specialist, Greentree has recently triumphed over some big names to win some of its newest customers…

In New Zealand specialised project costing and the need for improved access to information drove leading environmental planning and design consultancy Boffa Miskell to search for an integrated ERP system. The company also feared that its existing decade-old system might fall over one day.

Boffa Miskell’s name is on many major planning projects, and it was project leader of the consortium, ‘Blueprint100’, that designed the spatial plan for rebuilding central Christchurch in the wake of the devastating earthquakes. It employs over 130 professional staff, including landscape architects, urban designers, planners, ecologists and cultural heritage advisors.

Boffa Miskell assessed half a dozen systems before settling on Greentree and price was a deciding factor.

“Greentree’s total cost of ownership over a 10-year period was a lot lower than its competitors,” says finance manager Blair Walker.

“Our goal is to be a leader in our field in New Zealand and in parts of the Asia-Pacific region. To help achieve that, we want better knowledge management, and having access to project and client information is an important part of that,” Walker adds.

Across the ditch nothing but Greentree would do for transport industry firm Intermodal. “Our Managing Director knew Greentree from a previous business venture,” explains David Raphael, general manager of finance and systems for the Intermodal Terminal Services Group.

“We didn’t see the point in wasting time looking at other systems because we already knew Greentree could do a great job,” he adds.

ITS specialises in the design, construction, management and operation of passenger, intermodal and bulk rail lines and terminals. It has built a group of four integrated businesses providing services to the rail industry, which included acquiring several disparate business systems that it now wants to consolidate.

With the implementation of its new Greentree solution it’s looking forward to eliminating time-consuming manual data transfers between its various systems, and giving its unit managers better access to information instead of waiting for month-end reports.

“We’ve got a national footprint in Australia, and since inception we have experienced continued growth which is expected to continue in the forthcoming years. We expect Greentree will deliver outstanding group-wide financial reporting and provide effective management of the business today and into the future,” adds Raphael.
