Ongoing push for direct enterprise ERP model…
MYOB has continued down the acquisition trail, buying established partner Star Business Solutions as it fleshes out its enterprise growth plans.
In May, the Melbourne-based business and accounting software vendor announced plans for a direct sales and service channel model for ERP solutions to enterprise partners, operating alongside MYOB’s existing partner network. At the time the company said it was gearing up for ‘significant’ mid market growth.
“We’re continuing to see strong growth in our ERP channel.”
The move to a direct sales and service channel model was quickly followed by the acquisition of two of MYOB’s ERP partners, Axsys and Exobiz to bolster the sales and support capability.
Victoria-based Star Business Solutions has been involved with product development for MYOB for a number of years, and has ‘decades’ of global software market experience, including customisation and implementation of MYOB’s on-premise ERP solution Greentree.
Kim Clarke, MYOB general manager for enterprise, says Star Business Solutions has been one of MYOB’s top performing enterprise partners for many years. The company was winner of the MYOB Excellence in Business Development Award three years running and MYOB Partner of the Year in 2016.
“We couldn’t go past the opportunity to work together to realise our vision for the market,” Clarke says.
Star Business Solutions’ Advanced specialists will join MYOB ‘to enhance its channel function’ MYOB says. Star Business Solutions co-owner Trish Hall will oversee management of all Greentree customers serviced directly by MYOB, including sales and support. Hall will also look after Greentree development and customisation support, an MYOB spokesperson told iStart.
Earlier this year the company said its ERP business was up 35 percent on last year. The company took a hit in 2020, cutting 130 jobs.
“We’re continuing to see strong growth in our ERP channel and the acquisition of Star Business Solutions will see us provide the best platforms, product experience and support for their customers as well as bring a strong focus and attention to all Greentree customers,” the spokesperson says.
“Star Business Solutions is renowned for its Greentree expertise, and with several Advanced specialists also in their business, the opportunity to have them join our team means we can work together to realise our vision for the market, provide the best platforms, product experience and support for their customers in an evolving market, and bring new skills and expertise that will help MYOB scale and grow.”
Clarke says joining forces with MYOB’s largest Greentree partner and developer will bring new focus and attention to delivering best-in-class experiences for customers.
“Trish and her team bring a wealth of experience across Greentree and MYOB Advanced and will be instrumental in shaping a new enhanced Greentree experience within MYOB, covering sales and support, customisations and product development,” she says.
“We’re looking forward to working as one team – not only to support more businesses with their ERP needs, but to deliver a model which creates the most compelling customer experience for Australian and New Zealand mid-market businesses,” Clarke says.
Financial details of the Star Business Solutions deal have not been disclosed by MYOB, which de-listed from the ASX after it was bought by private equity firm KKR back in 2019.
