Educational institute believes hands-on teaching with SAS for Sustainability Management suite will equip students with workplace skills now increasingly in demand…
The Northern Melbourne Institute of TAFE (NMIT), one of Australia’s largest providers of tertiary and vocational education, is deploying the SAS for Sustainability Management software solution.
The SAS solution enables organisations to measure their baseline performance on emissions, energy, water and waste to determine the fiscally responsible path to improvement.
As well as providing historical reports for hindsight, SAS’s integrated analytics-led platform also delivers insight about the cost implications of current or proposed projects.
At NMIT, various faculties will use the SAS solution in academic courses where sustainability is an aspect of the curriculum.
Later, if the institute’s management so chooses, the solution can also be applied to its own sustainability initiatives and relevant corporate and social responsibility matters and reporting.
“The use of the SAS solution enables our graduates to be more work-ready by providing real world sustainability reporting and auditing skills in a move that is supported by both industry and professional bodies,” says NMIT’s acting head of program – business degrees, John Grech.
“Our focus is on using the best solutions for the ongoing sustainability information capability,” Grech says.
