Enterprise software available to eligible charities, voluntary and community groups…
Security vendor Symantec is offering Australian non-profit organisations its enterprise software through Connecting Up Australia’s DonorTec software donation programme.
Symantec will donate the software as part its corporate social responsibility initiatives. Connecting Up Australia, part of the TechSoup Global network, will administer the programme, which aims to provide software products to non-profit organisations for a small fee.
Symantec joined the TechSoup Global programme in February 2002 and has donated software to more than 10,000 organisations in that time. DonorTec provides donated software and hardware to eligible Australian charities, voluntary and community groups.
Craig Scroggie, Symantec’s vice president and managing director, Pacific region, says that through this program the company will support communities in areas where Symantec employees live and work.
“Charities, community groups and voluntary organisations are operating in the same complex environment as businesses,” Scroggie says.
“Ensuring confidential information is secure and accessible is just as important to a non-profit as it is to a commercial corporation.”
Doug Jacquier, Connecting Up Australia’s CEO, says the network has grown by partnering with organisations that share its commitment to providing non-profits with critical technology resources.
“We’re looking forward to providing Symantec’s security, storage and system management software to qualified organisations in Australia,” Jacquier says.
