The communications company will design, deploy and manage a critical new communications system for the airport, allowing it to focus on its core business…

The contract signing in which Tait has agreed to upgrade and manage Brisbane Airport Corporation’s (BAC) digital mobile radio communications system,  comes as Brisbane prepares to host the G20 Leaders Summit later this year.

Tait is well-known for supplying radio communications solutions to public safety agencies, utilities and transportation agencies where reliable communications are critical, including Air France, London Bus and British Columbia Rail. The G20 Leaders Summit will bring around 4000 international delegates and 3000 domestic and international media to the city in November, putting the city in the spotlight and requiring tight security.

The contract with BAC will see Tait deliver support and maintenance services throughout the communications system upgrade project as well as designing, deploying and supporting a world-class digital mobile radio network. James Kyd, Tait’s chief marketing officer, says that the upgrade will not only serve the airport well in keeping its critical communication solutions running 24/7 at a time when the global media focus will be on Brisbane, but will also “open up a world of possibilities for the future of the airport’s communication”.

He also says the contract win is indicative of how Tait is now working in close partnership with its clients on a long-term basis and enable the company to demonstrate its expertise in providing full managed services.

“Our clients are now looking to us to provide the expertise to not only design and install their communications systems but to manage and support them as well. Managed services is a key part of our growth strategy and will enable us to deliver increased value to clients, internationally and domestically, on a long-term basis.”
