Telstra is offering relief packages for residential and small business customers in Moree Plains Shire Council and Tamworth Regional Council areas as well as Mitchell, Roma, Charleville and surrounding districts who have lost services as a result of the current flooding…

The telco has announced the short-term measures will include free call diversion (regardless of carrier), the ability to make local and STD calls on the mobile phone at fixed-line rates, and a one-off credit of AUD $50 for prepaid customers.

Affected customers are encouraged to call the carrier on 132 203 to report a fault on their services and/ or to register for the assistance package offers.

Telstra Country Wide Area general manager for North West NSW, Tricia Wilson, said there had been little damage to key Telstra infrastructure so far and technicians would continue to work to fully recover any communications services which had been impacted by the floodwaters.

Ms Wilson urged customers to call Telstra on the above number to report a fault and register for the assistance package if they had lost their home.

“We understand this is a terrible time for anyone who has been affected by these floodwaters and hopefully this package will help people as they work through this crisis,” Wilson said.

Longer term, Telstra is also offering free cancellation and re-connection of fixed-line and internet services.
