Infor invites enterprises to Ming.le on its social platform

The vendor has announced a new social workflow tool that is embedded in core business applications to transform productivity…

The announcement was made at the Inforum 2013 conference in Orlando. The network, called Ming.le, is being described by Infor as “a comprehensive platform for social collaboration, business process improvement and contextual analytics”. What makes it different from other social networks is that Ming.le is embedded within key systems like ERP, supply chain management , human capital management, and enterprise asset management. This is a shift away from traditional enterprise social platforms, which have chiefly been used as employee engagement tools, towards a tight integration between business applications and the collaboration layer and dashboard/activity stream.

A 2012 report by the McKinsey Global Institute found, “The average interaction worker spends an estimated 28 percent of the workweek managing e-mail and nearly 20 percent looking for internal information or tracking down colleagues who can help with specific tasks.”

The aim of Ming.le is to not only reduce this wasted time, by letting employees across all areas of the business easily communicate, collaborate, and follow people, assets, and processes relevant to their tasks but also make act on issues directly. Infor’s media statement explains that “users are able not only to talk about work issues, but to solve them directly in the application, which can lead to an increase in productivity”.
