IFS continues to push in to the mining sector, securing new business from fast-growing civil and mining contractor Brierty…
The global enterprise applications company beat out 11 other suppliers to win the right to replace a number of Brierty Limited’s system with a single enterprise application that supports its growth and future mobile strategy.
Brierty will implement IFS Applications 8 to leverage the system’s features in project management and execution control. The company will also benefit from performance-based maintenance capabilities and mobile support for its remote operations in Western Australia and the Northern Territory with IFS Touch Apps. The apps combined with the asset management and maintenance functionality were key in the decision to purchase IFS Applications.
Brierty expects to make savings through better asset usage, lower maintenance costs, streamlined reporting processes, and reduced software licensing and maintenance costs to achieve a return on investment within 18 months to two years. “Through better project management information we will be able to save on each project, and reporting times will be improved,” said Ian Sydney, Brierty’s CFO.
By implementing IFS Applications, Brierty will have real-time visibility of all of its business activities, including projects and assets, from a single application. Information about labour, equipment and materials will be entered from remote mine and construction sites directly into IFS, automatically validated and made immediately available to managers in Brierty’s Perth head office.
By recording all issues and handling all work orders in IFS, Brierty will improve planning for major plant maintenance and the management of backlog issues. “With IFS, our plant manager in Perth can see and manage his fleet,” said Sydney. “If you have to do an engine rebuild for a digger in September, you can send a spare up to the mine site in July. You can also see any backlog issues and fix them when machines come in for service to avoid future problems.”
IFS Applications’ mobility support, including Touch Apps for iOS, Android and Windows smartphones and tablets, was also a deciding factor. “We have a vision where all supervisors and above will have a mobile device so they can enter information and approve requisitions and orders in the field without being tied to a desk. The mobility functionality in IFS Applications will give us real-time visibility into our operations and create further efficiencies. The mobility support we saw with IFS is certainly where we want to be,” said Sydney.
